This exciting beginner class is for students interested in learning to become more confident on stage and in themselves. Beginning with exercises to strengthen stage presence and imagination the students will then work on producing and performing in their very own play. Students will participate in the playwriting process, rehearse and perform dramatic scenes. Our skilled, professionally trained instructors will teach students to develop character and stage presence through blocking, positioning, directing stagecraft and more. Instructors will provide critical feedback throughout each class, furthering the student's understanding of the medium. A presentation for parents and friends will take place upon completion of the course.

Students of this Drama class will get the opportunity to learn more advanced dramatic principles under the guidance of a professionally trained and skilled instructor. Students will learn blocking, projection, character development, text analysis, stage presence, directing and playwriting while developing and performing in dramatic, scripted scenes. This advanced Drama class is for teens interested in pursuing the dramatic arts at a post-secondary or professional level. Students will develop their communicative and critical thinking skills through advanced acting exercises based on leading professional teachers and talents. Our skilled, professionally trained instructors will delve deeper in to scene study, theatre and film history, techniques and dramatic schools of thought. Our teachers will also devote time specifically to the business of acting including resumes, headshots, auditions and self initiated projects. A final presentation for parents and friends and interested industry professionals will take place upon completion of the class.

Whether the student is fluent in French or still learning, this Drama in French class offers students the opportunity to express themselves creatively by participating in games and activities that will allow them to develop their French-speaking and public speaking skills. The art of Improv or acting without a script seems daunting to most adults but children come by the ability to make belief naturally. This exciting class encourages students to imagine, create and leave their comfort zone by learning the art of dramatic and comedic improvisation. Students will learn how to improvise under a skilled and professionally trained acting instructor who will teach character choices, voice, clarity and working with a team. Instructors will provide critical feedback throughout the class, strengthening the student's understanding and acting ability. As children get older they are sometimes encouraged to leave behind the make-believe and focus only on current and “cool” things. This exciting Improv class is focused on developing a sense of self and trusting in our ideas and abilities. It is an excellent opportunity for students to leave their comfort zone, overcome their fears and strengthen their acting ability. Students will explore dramatic and comedic improvisation, Character, supporting a scene, mime work, and story and comedic literacy while working under a skilled and professionally trained instructor. Instructors will also provide students with critical feedback throughout each class, strengthening the students understanding and ability. They will also speak to guest performers who are active participants in the comedy and improv scene in Toronto. A highly skilled, professional acting instructor will give critical feedback to each student, strengthening their acting abilities. Scene Study

Age 13-17

To understand a scene is to understand the minds of the characters, the playwright and your own. In this exciting Scene Study class, students will delve into basic acting skills as well as story structure, the meaning, intention, and construction of plays. Students will discover how to identify key plot points, and the art of character development and learn climax, resolution, and conclusion. Our highly skilled instructor will teach a new play each month and a new scene from the play each week.

 
 
 

Acting For Camera

Age 7-9

Tuesday 4-5 pm

This acting class is for students willing to show off their dramatic and comedic acting skills in front of a camera. Our skilled instructors will teach students the art of expression and the differences between acting on the stage and on camera. This class also aims to promote self-confidence, verbal and non-verbal expression, and teamwork. Students will learn the fundamental techniques used in cold-reading while being recorded as well as the different types of shots used in film and how they affect performance. While working under the guidance and advice of a skilled, professionally trained instructor students will hone their on-camera skills. Students will review their work at the end of each class. A final project will be presented to family, friends and classmates

Students with previous experience in Acting are encouraged to join this advanced Acting for Camera class which focuses heavily on performance, auditioning and preparing a role. Students will work on various, differing roles, and develop their on-screen presence while working under the guidance of a specially trained instructor. Students will review their recorded work towards the end of each class. A final project will be screened at CCSA for parents, friends and classmates.

 
 
 

Advanced Acting For Camera

Our Advanced Acting For Camera class is for young talents looking to hone their skills and prepare themselves for future programs, auditions or any acting endeavour. Students will be asked to prepare for classes by learning lines and preparing roles which they will present to their teacher and classmates. They will learn the nuances of performance and how to work with direction in realistic audition and performance situations. Students will be able to create a reel from the collected footage of this class and receive a headshot that they can use for their future
